Webb1 okt. 2011 · 1) TH350 is an auto. You are correct; an auto usually will not work under a CJ-5. 2) Your CJ-5 originally had a Dana 20 transfer case. If someone had a 300 in it, it was swapped in. 3) I run a 350, Dana 20, T-18 combo. It's terrific, but you do have to buy an adapter to mate the T-18 to the 350, and it's pricey. Webb19 dec. 2007 · If you were to change the transmission out to a NV4500, you would lose some of that low gearing as the NV4500 has a higher 1st gear ratio than the sm420... 5.61:1 compared to 7.05:1. The Spicer 23 transfer case is also pretty whimpy with the low range being less than 2:1 ratio.
