WebJan 12, 2024 · The shower cable should have a 50 amp mcb and done entirely in 10mm which means as your shower is 10.8 kw your existing cable is overloaded in places, you cannot just sling any old size in. It has to be designed to fit what you have. The mcb doesn’t protect the shower it protects the cable.

WebMay 5, 2011 · If you are fitting an 8.5kW shower a 6mm2 T&E cable will suffice. That is probably the one that is installed from your fusebaord to the shower pull-cord switch as your sparky mate advised you 8.5kW max it would be okay. Buying a 2-3m length of 6mm2 from the local DIY shed isn't gonna break the bank.
