WebMar 23, 2015 · Its usually provided by having a special substense coating on the outer side of the fuel tank that reacts with the leaking fuel and plugs the hole. the polymer that does the sealing melts and burns away if there already is a fire. by the way, fuel fires dont really go out for any plane.
